What price for a Swan in the current market?

-

SWANSEA City are set for a mass exodus following their relegation from the Premier League.

The Swans are already in the hunt for a new manager following the departure of Carlos Carvalhal on Friday, while club icons Leon Britton and Angel Rangel both played their final games for the club in the 2-1 defeat to Stoke City on the last day of the 2017-18 season.

Midfielder Ki Sung-Yueng has also confirmed that he’s set to move on to pastures new after opting against pursuing a new deal at the Liberty Stadium.

In addition to those stars, Tammy Abraham, Andy King and Renato Sanches have all seen their loan spells come to an end, with none of that trio set to play for the Swans next term.

A number of other key players, most notably goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski and centre-back Alfie Mawson, are among those who are expected to attract plenty of interest from other clubs this summer.

So there’s no doubt that it’s set to be a massive summer of change at the Liberty.

But it seems those looking to raid the Liberty in the coming months will have to pay a premium for certain players.

Mawson, heavily linked with a move to Tottenham in the past, still has two years left on his current deal with the Swans, having put pen to paper on a four-year contract when he moved to South Wales from Barnsley in 2016.

And according to German-based website Transfermarkt, his current market value is £10.8m, the same as striker Wilfried Bony, who endured a torrid first season back with the Swans after returning to the club from Manchester City last summer.

And as far as Fabianski is concerned, he is currently valued at £4.5m.

But those fees are all trumped by striker Andre Ayew, who Transfermarkt say has a market value of £16.2m, making him the most valuable player currently in Swansea’s squad.

Midfielder Leroy Fer, central defender Federico Fernandez and former Hull City man Sam Clucas are all valued at £7.2m, while Tom Carroll, Jordan Ayew and Roque Mesa are said to be worth £6.3m

Despite becoming the club’s record signing two years ago, Spanish forward Borja Baston, who spent the 2017-18 campaign on loan at Malaga, is now said to be worth just £2.7m following two poor seasons since he joined the Swans.
