Cardiff Business Club looking for new secretary

ONE of the oldest and most respected business clubs in the UK is seeking to appoint a new secretary.

Cardiff Business Club, whose patron is the Prince of Wales, was founded more than a century ago.

Its principal activities centre on dinner events addressed by speakers of national or internatio­nal standing within their particular sectors.

The role of the secretary is to operate the club on behalf of its board of directors, with particular responsibi­lity for constructi­ng an annual programme of exciting events which will appeal to the increasing­ly diverse membership.

The role generally involves 10 hours a week plus attendance at the club’s events. There is a nominal remunerati­on together with expenses.

The role offers a significan­t opportunit­y to share in the leadership of one of the most successful clubs of its kind and to build a fantastic network.

The new secretary will be replacing Guy Clarke.

Mr Clarke is a retired solicitor, having been a partner at Blake Morgan. He was a member of the then Territoria­l Army for more than 30 years and was latterly chairman of the Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Associatio­n for Wales. He was chairman of Tenovus, a member of the council of Cardiff University, a member of the CBI Council for Wales and a school, college and Institute of Welsh Affairs trustee.
