Cardiff Business Club looking for new secretary
ONE of the oldest and most respected business clubs in the UK is seeking to appoint a new secretary.
Cardiff Business Club, whose patron is the Prince of Wales, was founded more than a century ago.
Its principal activities centre on dinner events addressed by speakers of national or international standing within their particular sectors.
The role of the secretary is to operate the club on behalf of its board of directors, with particular responsibility for constructing an annual programme of exciting events which will appeal to the increasingly diverse membership.
The role generally involves 10 hours a week plus attendance at the club’s events. There is a nominal remuneration together with expenses.
The role offers a significant opportunity to share in the leadership of one of the most successful clubs of its kind and to build a fantastic network.
The new secretary will be replacing Guy Clarke.
Mr Clarke is a retired solicitor, having been a partner at Blake Morgan. He was a member of the then Territorial Army for more than 30 years and was latterly chairman of the Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Association for Wales. He was chairman of Tenovus, a member of the council of Cardiff University, a member of the CBI Council for Wales and a school, college and Institute of Welsh Affairs trustee.
Interested parties can review the full job description on the Cardiff Business Club website. Closing date for applications is June 22, 2018.
