Coney Beach Pleasure Park celebrates 100 years

Seaside resort Porthcawl still has plenty to offer for a fun-filled bank holiday

-

REMEMBER how exciting a trip to Porthcawl used to be?

For thousands of us throughout Wales and beyond in the Sixties, Seventies, Eighties and Nineties, the seaside town was the holiday destination to end all holiday destinations. How many of us pitched up at Trecco Bay caravan park year after year, wishing we could stay for the whole summer rather than just the week or two our parents had booked off work? Who remembers the helter skelter at Coney Beach Pleasure Park?

The pony rides along the sand? Not to mention the water chute that seemed like the most incredible thing ever created? Much has changed but the amusement park remains.

Coney Beach Pleasure Park celebrates 100 years since it opened back in 1918.

Two members of the Evans family, who were travelling at the time, decided to visit for a few weeks. This proud, family-run business has been here ever since.

Coney Beach is once again open for the 2018 season.

So the next time you are looking for something fun to do on a sunny day, pop down to Porthcawl and take advantage of the 30-plus fabulous, hair-raising, skin-tingling rides at this free-entry venue this summer.

You can keep up with all the fun on Coney Beach Porthcawl Facebook page, officially Wales’ biggest, longest-running and most thumbs-upped amusement park!
