Grieving mum wins fight over Sheeran gig tickets
A MUM left “devastated” after being told she will be unable to use her daughter’s Ed Sheeran tickets after she died suddenly will now be able to go.
Ed Sheeran fan Ashlee Krysta McFarland bought three tickets to the shows in Cardiff.
But months later the 22-year-old university student from Canton, Cardiff, was found dead at home.
Her mum Shelley Diment said Sheeran played a huge role in her daughter’s life and when the tickets were recently delivered she decided she would still go.
But 43-year-old Shelley was told by Ticketmaster she would be unable to go as her daughter’s name was on all of the tickets.
Shelley said the three tickets were in her daughter’s name and were bought using her bank card and email address.
Fans had been warned that they will need to take their tickets and booking confirmation to the singer’s gigs plus the card (or photocopy of it) which was used to buy the tickets and valid photo ID matching the name on the booking.
But speaking yesterday, Shelley said Ticketmaster has now amended the tickets allowing her to attend Saturday’s gig with her daughter’s tickets.
Ticketmaster has also now offered to send Shelley a gift card.
Shelley said: “I told them I don’t want it. That was never the point of the complaint. The whole reason was for me to go in memory of my daughter.
“When they do send it I’m going to donate it to the British Heart Foundation, I don’t need it.”
Coventry University student Ashlee was found dead on September 1 in her bedroom while visiting Cardiff for the summer. It was eventually discovered that Ashlee died from Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS).
Speaking on Monday, a spokeswoman for Ticketmaster said: “We’re glad to say that the situation with Shelley’s tickets has been resolved and she will be able to attend the Ed Sheeran concert in Cardiff this week.
“We’re sorry for any upset caused and for the delay in making this happen.”
