South Wales celebrates Adult Learners’ Week

-

AS Adult Learners’ Week 2018 approaches there’s no better time to start learning something new. In south Wales there are a wide variety of events taking place to give you a taste of the courses available in your area.

Adult Learners’ Week 2018 is running from June 18-24 and celebrates lifelong learning, whether work-based, as part of a community education course, at college, university or online. Now in its 27th year, it aims to promote the range of courses available to adult learners, from languages to computing or childcare to finance.

Free “taster” and “have a go” sessions are being held across Wales to encourage participants to try something new, including Holiday Spanish at MCC in Chepstow 10am-3pm from June 18–29, floristry at Hobbycraft in Pontardulais Road Retail Park on June 21 from 1-3pm and Manage Money Wales CIC at Pontypridd Job Centre on June 22 from 9-4pm.

The week aims to promote a range of opportunities available in Wales to adult learners, and is organised by the Learning and Work Institute Wales, with the support of the Welsh Government and the European Social Fund.

Adult learners across Wales are also supporting a campaign to promote Skills Gateway for Adults, a Welsh Government service that provides adults with careers information, support, advice and guidance on how to improve their skills and employability.
