Here comes a heatwave, grandad

WALES is set to be as hot as the south of France when temperatur­es skyrocket this week.

There could be highs of up to 27C, as high pressure centred to the west of Ireland brings sunny and warm weather to Wales.

Temperatur­es are set to rise even more towards the end of the week.

With temperatur­es in Aberystwyt­h reaching an eye-watering 26C by midweek, it means Wales could be as hot as Nice in France – and even warmer than Tenerife

Make sure you’ve got enough suncream because it could be here for a while.

Weatherman Derek Brockway tweeted: “Some signs it will turn cooler and fresher for a while early July but the Azores high pressure could well bring more fine and very warm weather! ”

Here’s the Wales round-up: Cardiff: Today has highs of 25C expected, with 26C predicted tomorrow. Wednesday will see highs of 25C, Thursday is expected to see 27C, Friday 26C and Saturday 25C.

Swansea: Temperatur­es will climb to 23C today and tomorrow. Wednesday 22C, a rise to 23C on Thursday and 24C on Friday. Saturday 23C. Aberystwyt­h: Today, tomorrow and Wednesday could see a whopping 26C before cooling slightly to 24C on Thursday. Friday will see 26C again before dropping to 23C on Saturday.

Caernarfon: Set to brighten up today with a high of 23C before hitting 25C tomorrow. On Wednesday 24C is expected, with 23C due on Thursday. Friday will see 24C, 21C on Saturday.

Colwyn Bay: Today will see 21C, Tuesday and Wednesday 24C.

It will cool slightly on Thursday to 22C before warming to 24C on Friday. Saturday will see 21C.
