Charles and Camilla set for annual Wales visit
THE Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall will make their annual visit to Wales next week for a number of engagements.
Clarence House said the couple would be celebrating key anniversaries for the National Health Service, the Heart of Wales railway line and the 90th anniversary of Gwent Association of Voluntary Organisation during the trip.
On Monday, the couple will attend a gathering of local voluntary bodies to mark the 90th anniversary of the Gwent Association of Voluntary Organisation, in Tintern.
On Tuesday, they will visit the Cleddau estuary community of Llangwm and meet local groups, as well as witness the village’s attempt at baking the world’s largest Welsh cake.
The Prince of Wales will then head to St Gwenog’s Church, in Llanwenog, Ceredigion, to view carvings created by Belgian World War One refugee Joseph Reubens, while the Duchess of Cornwall will visit the Dyfed Shire Horse Farm in Carnhuan.
They will then host an evening of music and drama at the Prince’s Welsh home in Carmarthenshire, featuring performances by Wynne Evans, Owen Teale and royal harpist Ann Denholm, plus students and musicians from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
On Wednesday, the couple will visit Llandovery railway station to mark the Heart of Wales railway line’s 150th anniversary and will travel on to Builth Wells. They will then re-open the town’s renovated The Strand Hall before listening to a performance by Young Farmers clubs.
Prince Charles, in his role as The Prince’s Trust president, will meet young people taking part in the Get into Rural Skills programme at the National Park Visitors’ Centre in Brecon.
In the evening he will attend a service to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the National Health Service, hosted by First Minister Carwyn Jones AM and chief executive of NHS Wales Dr Andrew Goodall at Llandaff Cathedral.
On Thursday, the Prince of Wales will visit Ysbyty Aneurin Bevan, in Ebbw Vale, on the NHS’ 70th anniversary for a garden party with patients and staff. He will then tour Tretower Court medieval manor house in Crickhowell before visiting the town’s restored former Corn Exchange.
His next engagement is a tour of the Landmark Trust house in Llwyn Celyn, near Abergavenny, as well as a meeting with the Black Mountains Land Use Partnership.
On Friday, Prince Charles will visit Ysgol San Siôr primary school in Llandudno. He will then tour Bodysgallen Hall and attend PRIME Cymru’s annual awards ceremony.
The next engagement will be a visit to St Digain Church in Llangernyw.
