AWELSH holidaymaker ran to the aid of a gunshot victim when three people were injured in a shooting outside a Benidorm nightclub.

Emergency crews swarmed to Calle Mallorca – the main strip in the popular Spanish resort – following reports of the incident near the Hippodrome disco-pub on Wednesday night.

One victim is believed to be British or Irish while another was thought to be Moroccan.

Nadine Davies described how she had been on the first night of her holiday with husband Lee when she found herself caught up in the incident.

The healthcare worker, from Mountain Ash, did not give a thought to her own safety when she rush to give first aid to one of the injured men.

When Nadine, who is a healthcare support worker at the Keir Hardie Health Park in Merthyr Tydfil, saw what had happened, she put her first aid training to good use and waited with the victim until an ambulance turned up.

Now she is trying to track down the man, who she believes is Irish and called Sean, to make sure he is all right.

Describing what happened, Nadine told us: “It was scary as I have never seen so many people running in fear.

“That is when I spotted a man had been shot and knew I had to help.

“When I got to him there were also two men there so I got them to elevate his leg and apply pressure to the wound. There was so much blood.

“All I could do was calm the man down and his very scared girlfriend.”

She said Spanish police cleared the area of bystanders and the ambulance seemed to take a long time to arrive.

She says: “All I know is that his name is Sean and he was staying at in the Paradiso hotel. I think he was Irish.

“The couple have been on my mind since it happened. He was talking but I just want to know they are okay.”

Two other men were also shot and it is thought the man Nadine helped might have been hit by a bullet that ricocheted in the incident.

According to the Mirror, four bullet casings were said to have been found at the scene.

One witness wrote: “Nothing like a rush of emotions when you’re sat in a bar in Benidorm and all of a sudden 15 cop cars pull up outside pull two people out of a car because there’s been a shooting two minutes up the road from where you’re at.”

A spokesman for Spanish National Police said: “No arrests have been made so far. Three men were hurt including a Brit but none seriously.”
