Govea to show he’s a cut above after close shave at barbers

-

SWANSEA City appear to have made their second signing of the summer, and it seems to have been confirmed by a local barber.

Jordi Govea, a product of the Real academy system, was first linked with a move to the Liberty earlier this week, but left the Spanish capital on a free transfer.

It is likely that he’ll join the club’s under-23s set-up, but he could well be given a first team chance given the club’s shortage of options at left-back, with Martin Olsson so far their only recognised specialist.

No official announcement has yet been made by the club, who are believed to still be awaiting international clearance before making it official, although barring any dramatic last-minute hitches he is expected to be unveiled as a Swansea player in the coming days.

Local barber shop Trimology broke the news yesterday evening that Govea had paid them a visit, using their Instagram account to post a picture of the 19-year-old with the caption: “After his transfer from Real Madrid’s Academy its Jordi Govea’s first ever trim in Swansea. He’s now fresh & ready. Good luck Bro, we hope you continue to succeed.”

Govea found out about Trimology Barbers after he messaged them on online. He visited the barbers at 5.30pm on Wednesday where the owner, Imad Khalid, turned up on his day off and spent 40 minutes cutting his hair, giving him a medium skin fade cut with two ‘tiger stripes’ each side.

He said: “He messaged me on my Instagram and said ‘I would like you to cut my hair’. “It was my day off, but I could not say no! I turned up to work that day for him only.” He does not speak much English at all and had a friend with him translating.

“We were talking about Swansea and some of the nice restaurants in the city.

“He seems like a very nice bloke and hopefully he will do well for the club.”

The barbers were the first to announce Govea was in the city, breaking the news before the club’s announcement of the signing.

Mr Khalid said: “Unfortunately I spoilt it for Swansea! The barbers know everything!

“It was quite funny, but if I can get any information first then I’m a step ahead of them! I see it as a good sign.”

And Govea had positive feedback after his cut.

“He said he is definitely coming back,” Mr Khalid added.
