Looks forward to this year’s Royal Welsh Show

-

This year will be no different, but the more usual questions will, for the third year running, be added to by queries and discussions about the biggest changes facing agriculture in a generation.

Indeed, few would have guessed that with fewer than nine months to go until we exit the EU, answers would be just as thin on the ground as they were last year and uncertainties more common than ever.

Despite all the uncertainty, it is therefore essential that we are proactive in steering discussions and decisions which will impact agriculture for a generation and beyond, and ensure those who represent us in Cardiff and London do not sit back and wait for the outcome of discussions which take little account of our rural communities.

So in addition to all the political meetings we are holding throughout the week, where we will be discussing the importance of #FairFarmFunding and future frameworks, we are also holding a special Brexit seminar, which will look more closely at what the future may hold for our industry.

The event will start at 2pm on the Monday of the show and certainly promises to be thought-stimulating, as we will be exploring different aspects of Brexit and the future of our industry, including aspects of regionalism and devolution in the context of the European Union.

Indeed, throughout the week farmers, rural businesses and show-goers can look forward to many thought stimulating #FarmingMatters conversations and we hope many of you can join us!
