Portmeirion festival will be ‘last for now’
THE organisers of Festival No 6 , which takes place in Portmeirion, have said this year’s event will be the “last one for now”.
The announcement was made yesterday on the festival’s website as they outlined their decision to take a break.
A statement said: “Running Festival No6 hasn’t been without its challenges.
“Portmeirion is a complex site and we’ve had fun adapting and reinventing the festival every year but unfortunately No 6 is just not sustainable in its current format and so we’ve made the difficult decision to take a breather – 2018 will be the last Festival No 6 for now.
“We will of course be throwing an almighty party this year and will make sure it’s the most outstanding No 6 to date!”
The festival celebrates a multitude of art forms, from music, to comedy, to cabaret. As a result, the line up is full to the brim with great acts.
Franz Ferdinand, The The and Friendly Fires headline the music side this year while the comedy acts on show include Reginald D Hunter, Lauren Pattison, Tim Key and Jayde Adams, among others.
The stunning Italian styled architecture of Portmeirion provide an exquisite backdrop to the festival of art.
They added that taking a break was the “right decision”, but there were already thinking about future events.
There are still a limited number of tickets for this year’s event, which takes place from Thursday, September 6 to Sunday, September 9.
