ONE of our favourite festivals has announced the line-up for its latest edition.

HUB Festival returns for 2018 with a line up of live music, art, comedy, spoken word and poetry, dance and performance art, with 13 stages across Womanby Street in Cardiff, between Friday, August 24 to Sunday, August 26.

The festival, now in it’s sixth year, aims to showcase Cardiff’s live music scene, working with local promoters to provide a sample of what the city has on offer from folk to metal, blues and rock to hip-hop, soul and pop.

Stages include The Moon, Clwb Ifor Bach, Tiny Rebel, Fuel, City Arms, Bootlegger, Sully’s Café and the street itself. This year will also see the festival expand to Campfa, a new gallery space in Queens Street Arcade (next to New Look) and Castle Arms, the basement bar of the Angel Hotel.

As ever there is a hugely diverse line-up. Other stages include the Comedy Sheep local comedy showcase, Mega Verse spoken word and poetry, Tactile Boschlive art, exhibit and performance art takeover.

The Hold Up will have a marquee on Womanby Street on the Saturday for local and new performers, then up to Clwb Ifor Bach for a Sunday night of hip-hop including Mace, Dirty Alex, Sounds Of Harlowe and Pembrokeshire’s Regime.

Libertino Records present some of their latest artists on the Welsh label, including Keys, Red Telephone and Names.

Cardiff Buskers recently overturned a restriction on them against amplification, so to show solidarity with the rest of the live music scene there’ll be a Cardiff Buskers stage on the Sunday.

Stereoripe & The Reggiments have gathered local hip-hop, reggae & funk artists including Rufus Mufasa, Wounded Healers, Ramnastax and Codewalkers.

There’ll also be a Cardiff Electronic Music Producers meet up and demonstration from the group, who usually hold monthly sessions at Gwdihw for anyone who wants to meet other producers and gain advice or feedback. Live acts will include Sunbane, Agiris and Conformist.

Recrock will hold a rock school this summer and the group will be making their debut performance at the festival, giving young people their first chance to play on a stage together in front of an audience.

Other highlights include Aleighcia Scott, Bas Jan, Chroma, Mace, Madi, XY&O, Rachel K Collier, Rainbow Maniac, Johnny Cage & The Voodoogroove, She Makes War, Funke and the Two Tone Baby, I Fight Lions, Chupa Cabra, Al Moses, Perfect Body, CVC, The Algal Bloom, Mammoth Weed Wizard Bastard, Esther, Little Folk, Bryony, and Selena In The Chapel.
