Ayew leaves as Swans agree loan deal

-

ANDRE Ayew’s loan move to Fenerbahce was completed subject to international clearance last night after the Ghanaian left Swansea City’s pre-season tour to fly to Turkey.

Ayew, who rejoined Swansea from West Ham in January in an £18million deal, had long been expected to leave in the wake of relegation from the Premier League.

He had featured in Swansea’s preparations for the new season under Graham Potter, but he played no part in the defeat to Spanish side Eibar in Janbach on Tuesday night.

And the 28-year-old, who failed to find the net following his January arrival, will now head to Turkey on loan with an option for the deal to be made permament. Swansea had been keen to get Ayew’s wages – believed to be north of £60,000 a week – off the books with the player having expressed a desire to leave.

His brother Jordan is also expected to leave before the transfer window closes, with Swansea having rejected a bid from Fulham earlier in the summer. Reports in the player’s homeland had linked Leicester with a £12million offer, but it is believed the Foxes have yet to outline an interest in the former Aston Villa forward.

Federico Fernandez was another Swansea player to sit out the game against Eibar. The Argentine has been struggling with a dead leg, but has spoken of his desire to play topflight football elsewhere and has been the subject of an enquiry from FC Krasnodar in Russia.
