Teen arrested after another stabbing attack in city

A TEENAGER has been arrested following a stabbing in Cardiff.

The 17-year-old was arrested on suspicion of wounding following an assault at about 4pm on Friday on Cae Glas Road, Rumney.

He has since been arrested for a second time on suspicion of witness intimidati­on and remains in police custody.

An 18-year-old man suffered a non-life-threatenin­g stab wound during the incident and has been treated at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.

A South Wales Police spokeswoma­n said the suspect and the victim are known to one another.

The spokeswoma­n said: “A 17-year-old was arrested on Friday afternoon on suspicion of wounding following an assault in Cae Glas Road, Rumney, at around 4pm that day.

“He has since been further arrested for witness intimidati­on and remains in police custody.

“An 18-year-old man suffered a non-life-threatenin­g stab wound during the incident and has been treated at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.

“The victim and the suspect are known to each other.”

This latest incident came just days after Malaciah Thomas, 20, from Butetown, died after suffering multiple stab wounds in the Grangetown area. Four men have been charged with his murder.

In June, a 43-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm following reports of a stabbing in the Riverside area of Cardiff.
