ARGOS REVEALS NEW DRONE

DJI, maker of magical drone cameras, was all set to reveal the latest incarnation of its Mavic Pro super small and popular model.

But there was a hitch, so the launch was cancelled.

The only problem was, Argos, of all people, had already printed its new catalogue… and nobody thought to tell them that the Mavic 2 Pro should not be in it.

So instead of a glitzy launch party, the Mavic 2 was unleashed on the world in the tech section of the Argos catalogue.

Not all was revealed (not least the price), but we do now know the device will come in two versions – one of which will sport a new zoom lens. DJI says the leak reveals only a small peek at the Mavic 2 and has not said when the official launch will happen.

IPAD PRO TAKES IPHONE’S LEAD

WE’RE heading into the annual summer Apple rumour-a-thon, as interested parties do their best to predict what the iPhone and iPad-maker has up its sleeve for its regular September reveal of new products.

There are so many wild rumours that some of them are bound to be true. This week we discovered that Apple might be making new iPad Pros, and that they might feature Face ID and no headphone socket, like the iPhone X, and they might have the same-sized screens but be smaller overall thanks to thinner bevels.

But that might bring with it a complication.

Rumours suggest that Face ID as it stands in the iPhone X can only work in portrait mode, Apple would discourage the use of the device in landscape mode by putting the smart connector to which physical keyboards are attached on the bottom of the device. So you’d have to type on a very narrow keyboard on an upright screen.

We only have a month or so to wait to find out.We do know iOS 12, macOS Mojave, and other major software updates are coming, so it’s not all guesswork.
