Sunshine and some storms on the cards
THE heatwave that is currently bringing temperatures of 45°C and more to parts of Spain and across Europe, could help the UK keep the current sunny weather for weeks to come.
While the prospect of plenty more sunshine is a happy one, it is tempered by the forecast that it could be punctuated by thunderstorms and heavy showers.
This morning, early low cloud should steadily disperse, leaving another dry and sunny day across Wales. Feeling very warm again, especially further east, with just light winds and a maximum temperature 26°C.
The outlook for tomorrow to Thursday is it should remain warm, but fairly cloudy tomorrow, perhaps with a few showers later. It will be distinctly cooler, breezier and showery on Wednesday and Thursday, though still with good spells of sunshine.
As we head through the day on Friday, wet and windy weather will arrive across the southwest. This wet and windy weather will then move northeastwards, clearing over the weekend. Temperatures will be around average overall, though it will feel cool in the west in spells of rain, and during brighter interludes it is likely to feel warm in the south.
Looking ahead and towards the last couple of weeks of August, there will be long periods of hot and dry weather.
Temperatures are expected to rise between August 19 and September 2, as southern parts of the UK experience a taste of the heatwave that is burning up Europe presently.
The Met Office warns that this warm weather will be accompanied by the occasional thunderstorm and heavy rain showers to break the hot sunshine at various points towards the end of August.
