Swansea waiting for Nordfeldt’s scan result

-

SWANSEA City will learn the full extent of Kristoffer Nordfeldt’s groin injury when he undergoes a scan today.

The Swedish keeper suffered the injury during the first half of Saturday’s 1-0 win over Preston at the Liberty, with a scan expected to give the Swans a much clearer idea of how soon he will return to Graham Potter’s plans.

Erwin Mulder replaced Nordfeldt in the 21st minute as the Dutch stopper made his Swans debut in a game in which Jay Fulton’s goal proved the difference.

Meanwhile, defender Brandon Cooper was delighted after returning to the fold with Swansea City under23s on Monday following a fivemonth injury layoff.

Cooper suffered leg and ankle injuries during the 3-1 Premier League 2 victory over Leicester at Landore in March.

The centre-back made his league return against the Foxes at the King Power Stadium on Monday after putting in some extra work over the summer.

“It was great to be back,” the 18-year-old said. “It meant a lot to be starting and playing with the under23s once again.

“It has been a tough few months. It was a lengthy spell out, but I feel it has made me stronger.

“I just want to do my best to stay in the team and help the team going forward.”

Despite making his return, Cooper could not help prevent the development side from losing 1-0 in their opening Premier League 2 fixture. Layton Ndukwu’s fifth-minute strike was the difference between the two sides.

“It was a disappointing result for us,” added Cooper. “We created some good chances to score from but their keeper made some great saves.

“We are disappointed we did not come away with at least a point but we just have to keep working and pushing.

“The positives are we did not fold. We kept battling and we just have to keep working on that attitude.”

The U23s are next in action on Monday when they host Derby County at Landore (7pm).
