Martyn said: “I wanted to continue my education but the cost of travel or moving to another city put me off, but being able to do a foundation degree (in business studies) close to where I live meant higher education hasn’t been as expensive as people think it is – especially with the financial support I’ve been able to get.”
Martyn is right, there is a lot of financial support available for students, and if you study with Coleg Gwent you’ll still have access to the grants and loans available as you would have attending a university.
You can apply for a tuitionfee loan and borrow up to the maximum amount to cover your course fees; a loan to help with living costs (which is based on your level of household income); and you may be able to get extra funding if you have adults or children who are financially dependent on you – more information can be found on Coleg Gwent’s website.
You’ll also get help from a dedicated team of support staff, including your own personal tutor, on hand to assist with any questions or problems you may have; and you’ll have access to a students’ union on each campus, learning centres, libraries, and online journals.
