INSIDE HOFF AND HAYLEY’S HONEYMOON RESORT
THIS is the tropical hideaway in the Indian Ocean where David Hasselhoff and his new Welsh bride, Hayley Roberts, have been honeymooning.
The lush Kandolhu island, which is framed by white sandy beaches and coral reefs amidst a cobalt-blue sea, is in the North Ari Atoll and can only be reached by boat or sea plane.
A tiny tranquil idyll, it measures just 200m by 150m, is a TripAdvisor favourite and has been voted as one of the top 25 most romantic destinations in the world.
And, it seems, The Hoff is delighted with the find, posting a photo on Instagram of himself snorkeling during his romantic getaway with the caption: “Life is good!”
Despite its size, the island somehow manages to fit five a la carte restaurants on its shores, from Japanese restaurant Banzai and all-day diner The Market, to seafood grills and Mexican eateries like Ata-Roa.
And the hotel where the happy couple are staying is just as impressive as its setting, boasting 30 villas in five different styles, with wooden floors, high vaulted ceilings and the most amazing panoramic lagoon views, as well as jacuzzis, private sun decks, king-size beds and plunge pools.
There’s also a 24-hour reception, a library and free Wi-Fi, while many of the villas also their own jetty, the steps of which lead straight down into the water.
You can also go diving and snorkelling around the crystal clear reefs and try swimming with some of the many resident turtles.
Rooms work out about $686 a night that’s roughly £534 – but the spa facilities cost extra, ranging from organic seaweed wraps ($140), manicure ($30), pedicure ($40), facials ($140) and massage ($105 to $140).
The 66-year-old Knightrider and Baywatch star married former Glynneath sales assistant Hayley late last month, seven years after meeting in Cardiff when she asked him for his autograph.
The pair are said to have wed in front of close friends and family in an intimate ceremony in Puglia, Italy.
Dad-of-two David, known to fans as The Hoff, proposed to the one-time staff member of Debenhams in Merthyr Tydfil at a beach picnic in Malibu two years ago.
Speaking to OK! magazine , The Hoff said: “This is the very first time I’ve been able to get on my knees and say ‘Will you marry me?’ and follow up by getting married from my heart.”
Hayley, who wore a Galia Lahav off the shoulder dress for the ceremony, said their relationship works despite their 28-year age gap because her famous husband “acts so much younger”.
She said: “At the very start I thought the age difference was a lot and I was nervous about it but it doesn’t bother me now. David acts so much younger, he doesn’t see his age.
