Wales will want to make most of home advantage – Neville

PHIL Neville has named an experience­d squad for England’s Women’s World Cup qualifying double-header against Wales and Kazakhstan.

The winners of Wales-England at Newport on 31 August - to be shown live on the BBC - will qualify for the World Cup finals in France.

Everton defender Gabby George is the only woman yet to pick up a senior cap while captain Steph Houghton is fit to be called up after returning from a knee injury.

“We are looking forward to the Wales game and know we have to be ready for the challenge,” Neville told the Football Associatio­n’s official website after naming his squad.

“They will be determined to make the most of home advantage and their crowd will be expecting a victory.

“I know my players are up for it and will be fully focused on the job they have to do.”

The likes of Karen Bardsley, Lucy Bronze, Fran Kirby and Jodie Taylor are also in the 23-woman squad – as is Alex Greenwood, who plays for the newly-formed Manchester United Women’s team after suspension.
