Nominate someone for Women in Business 2018

- CHRIS PYKE Business reporter chris.pyke@walesonline.co.uk

THERE are five reasons why you should nominate someone for the Women in Business Awards 2018.

It’s that time of the year again, as the Women in Business Awards 2018 nominations deadline is fast approaching – here’s how to enter.

The event promises to be another fantastic afternoon as it celebrates inspirational women in business.

But who is going to be in the running for each award?

Well, that’s down to you as the Women in Business Awards are still open for nominations.

But voting is closing very soon, so please send them in by Sunday, August 26.

Lisa Cameron, commercial managing director at Media Wales, said: “This is a hugely supported event, which we all very much look forward to and which allows us to celebrate the achievements of women across our region.

“We keep the nomination process simplified to ensure people aren’t put off by form-filling.

“However, every year whilst celebrating our winners, people approach me to say they wish they had taken the time out to nominate their peers or themselves.

“Don’t be one of those people, nominate those women who you know have made a difference.”

Here’s five reasons why you should make your nominations today.

1. CELEBRATE THE ACHIEVEMENTS OF WOMEN ACROSS THE REGION

This is the perfect opportunity to recognise women who are making a difference every day.

Last year, Debbie Green, the chief executive of Coastal Housing, collected the overall award for Woman of the Year, in recognition of her inspirational work.

For example, under her leadership the Coastal Housing development at Castle Quarter won the prestigious National RICS regeneration award, putting Swansea Bay in the limelight.

2. IDENTIFY A RISING STAR

If you know someone who has achieved something amazing at the beginning of their career, then they might be suitable for the Rising Star award, which is sponsored by Hutchinson Thomas.

This is a wonderful opportunity to shine some light on the stars of tomorrow.

3. RECOGNISE A TRULY OUTSTANDING BOARD MEMBER OR TRUSTEE

Following on from feedback from last year’s event, the Women in Business Awards have introduced two new categories, Best Businesswoman in STEM and Board Member/ Trustee of the Year.

This means that you can nominate someone who has made a significant impact on a board.

4. PAY TRIBUTE TO A LIFETIME’S DEDICATION TO BUSINESS

The Lifetime Achievement award is incredibly special as this recognises someone who has shown a lifetime’s dedication to business.

Do you know someone who has been inspirational for decades? If so, don’t miss this chance to have their hard work highlighted.

5. ACKNOWLEDGE THE INFLUENCE AND SUPPORT PROVIDED BY A MENTOR

Finally, don’t forget about the people who have supported you in the workplace.

A mentor is incredibly important and this award, sponsored by VES, recognises the businesswomen who have played a part in helping their peers to succeed.
