A new operator sought for beach cafe
A NEW operator is being sought to run a popular beachfront cafe in Swansea.
Swansea council has appointed marketing agents, EJ Hales, to find a new operator for the Beach and Watersports Cafe, currently known as 360.
The cafe and bar, which is owned by the council, is licensed to host film, music and dance events.
The lease is available due to the fact that Bay Sports, the current operator which has run the site for five years, has given notice to end the tenancy at the end of September.
The beachfront venue has established itself as a popular sporting location, with beach volleyball, kayaking and surfing among some of the activities on offer, as well as plenty of events that run throughout the summer months.
The deadline for formal tenders to Cardiff-based property advisory firm EJ Hales is September 21.
Swansea council’s cabinet member for innovation, regeneration and tourism, Robert FrancisDavies, said: “This is an incredible business opportunity.
“We’re looking for tenants who can provide an exceptional public service to match the environment. “With a vast expanse of sandy beach and Mumbles Head nearby, this location has probably the best views of any commercial property in Wales.
“It’s a brilliant location on Swansea promenade just a few steps from the beach and opposite the famous St Helen’s cricket ground.
“It’s around a mile from the city centre on a national cycle track, the Wales Coastal Path and just off the main Mumbles Road.
“We’re confident it’ll be let in the coming months and we’ve already had more than 30 informal expressions of interest from local businesses.”
