Cam looks to be the man as Swans target loan capture

-

> SWANSEA City are closing in on the signing of Tottenham defender Cameron Carter-Vickers on a season-long loan.

The Swans were linked with the 20-year-old earlier this week and the Welsh club are increasingly confident of completing a move for the United States international.

There had been interest from other clubs in the Championship, as well as in the MLS, but the Swans look to have won the race for his services.

Carter-Vickers has made four first-team appearances for Spurs, two apiece coming in the League Cup and the FA Cup during the 2016-17 season.

He had loan spells with Sheffield United and Ipswich Town last term.

Should the deal be completed it will be a welcome boost for manager Graham Potter who has been operating with just two centrehalves since the deadline-day departures of Federico Fernandez and Jordi Amat.

Alfie Mawson and Kyle Bartley also left the Swans over the course of the summer.

Joe Rodon has stepped up and performed admirably alongside Mike van der Hoorn over the opening weeks of the season. But Swansea were short of cover and the bench for Tuesday’s draw of Leeds did not include any specialist defensive replacements.

It is thought the Swans are still eyeing up a striker and midfield options ahead of the closure of the loan window at the end of August.
