Ricketts looking for four-star finish

-

EARLY pace-setters Wrexham are back in National League action this afternoon in the first of what is a Bank Holiday double-header.

The unbeaten Dragons welcome Bromley to the Racecourse looking to make it four wins on the spin and maintain top spot ahead of their trip to Solihull Moors on Monday afternoon.

Last Saturday’s 3-1 victory at Eastleigh made it four wins from five matches for Sam Ricketts’ side, who had kept four straight clean sheets up until conceding in the 68th minute of that match and, with 13 points, are one clear of FC Halifax Town.

Bromley, meanwhile, come into the game 16th in the table with just one win from their opening five matches – which came last Saturday when Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe’s 88thminute winner earned them a 1-0

victory over Gateshead.

Former Wales international Ricketts was pleased with the result at Eastleigh but, ahead of today’s game, has called for his side to be more ruthless – having allowed the hosts to get back into the game last week from 2-0 down despite having a man sent off.

“Obviously I am delighted with the start, it could hardly have gone any better,” said Dragons boss Ricketts.

“One draw and everything else is a win is brilliant.

“I will say, and I know I say it after every game, we have to work and get better.

“Being 2-0 up against 10 men, we shouldn’t be letting the opposition back in the game and it shouldn’t become a game like it did.

“They have gone down to 10 men and we should be killing the game off there.

“We have to get better at controlling games and killing games off. With 10 men, they shouldn’t be getting back in and making us scrap until we get the third goal.

“We should be able to control the game and see the game out far more comfortably than what we are.”

Ricketts has bolstered his squad this week with the acquisition of midfielder Scott Burgess on a sixmonth loan deal from League Two side Bury.

Wrexham won the corresponding fixture with Bromley last season 2-0 thanks to a Ntumba Massanka brace with the sides drawing 1-1 in the return fixture at the end of March.
