CHAMPIONS Manchester City dropped their first points of the season as they were held to a 1-1 draw at Wolves.

Defender Aymeric Laporte rescued a point for Pep Guardiola’s side in an eventful contest at Molineux, heading a 69th-minute equaliser to cancel out Willy Boly’s controversial opener.

Boly had netted just before the hour when his attempted diving header went in off his arm.

City hit the woodwork three times, twice through Sergio Aguero and when a Raheem Sterling shot was touched onto the bar by Rui Patricio, while Wolves’ Raul Jimenez had a goal disallowed.

Mo Salah put Liverpool ahead against Brighton at Anfield with a 23rd-minute strike.

Brighton came more into the game in the second period and caused the Reds real problems. However, Jurgen Klopp’s men held on for a 1-0 victory to maintain their perfect record after three games.

DeAndre Yedlin’s late own goal preserved Chelsea’s perfect start to the new season as stubborn Newcastle saw a point snatched from their grasp.

The Magpies thought they had banked a point when substitute Joselu headed home an 83rd-minute equaliser to cancel out Eden Hazard’s penalty seven minutes earlier.

However, their joy was shortlived when Yedlin could only help Marcos Alonso’s drive into his own net with three minutes remaining.

Unai Emery claimed his first victory as Arsenal manager as the Gunners came from behind to beat West Ham 3-1.

Marko Arnautovic put the Hammers ahead after 25 minutes but Arsenal quickly responded through Nacho Monreal.

Arsenal benefitted from a slice of fortune to go ahead in the 70th minute as Alexandre Lacazette’s cross deflected in off Issa Diop and Danny Welbeck wrapped up the scoring late on.

Bournemouth came from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Everton in a remarkable clash at the Vitality Stadium that saw both sides finish with 10 men.

The Toffees lost Richarlison for a butt on Adam Smith late in the first half but they took control after the break with goals from Theo Walcott and Michael Keane putting them 2-0 up.

The Cherries also had Smith dismissed for bringing down Walcott but they hit back to snatch a draw with a Joshua King penalty and Nathan Ake strike in the last 15 minutes.

Harry Maguire scored a superb injury-time winner as Leicester came from behind to beat 10-man Southampton 2-1 at St Mary’s Stadium.

Ryan Bertrand had put Saints ahead with a fine strike seven minutes after the restart but the visitors quickly responded through Demarai Gray.

Southampton had midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg sent off for a second bookable offence 13 minutes from time and defender Maguire made them pay with a fine strike.

Watford’s winning start to the season continued with a 2-1 home victory over Crystal Palace after Etienne Capoue had been fortunate to avoid a red card.

The midfielder escaped with only a yellow for an early foul on Wilfried Zaha before creating Roberto Pereyra’s goal.

A second from Jose Holebas, which appeared to be an overhit cross, secured Watford’s third victory from three on a disappointing day for their visitors, who scored late on through Zaha.

Aleksandar Mitrovic and Andre Schurrle fired Fulham to their first points of the season as they beat Burnley 4-2.

Jeff Hendrick had cancelled out a stunning goal from Jean Michael Seri when Mitrovic struck with two headers in two minutes.

James Tarkowski pulled one back for Burnley but Schurrle’s late strike ensured Sean Dyche’s side were left empty-handed.
