How they rated
NEIL ETHERIDGE
His defence didn’t help him out early doors, but Etheridge made the saves when needed. Was powerless to prevent Mustafi’s header
BRUNO MANGA
Given a tough assignment against Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who drifted between a central position and one on the Arsenal left, leaving his fellow countryman looking unsettled throughout.
SEAN MORRISON (CAPT)
A sloppy back-pass to Etheridge conceded an early corner and that seemed to set the tone for a shaky performance. The corner from which Mustafi opened the scoring came from Morrison’s indecision. He did at least provide the headed assist for Ward.
SOL BAMBA
Strangely susceptible when defending set-pieces — he couldn’t seem to pick up Mustafi — but the Ivorian grew into the game and stopped Arsenal countless times in the second half.
JOE BENNETT
The left-back looks a Premier League footballer. Delivered a superb cross that brought Camarasa’s goal and did a decent job against the excellent Lacazette.
JOE RALLS
Was given the daunting task of quelling an Arsenal midfield that loves to control games and tried his best, but it was all a bit rushed at times.
HARRY ARTER
Flew in with a full-blooded challenge in the first minute, then spurned an enormous early chance to open the scoring. Squandered another in the first half but provided crucial experience as the game stretched.
BOBBY REID
Some superb battling up front and a great ball that nearly picked out Ward in the first half. You couldn’t fault his effort nor his end product.
JUNIOR HOILETT
Not quite at his sharpest, perhaps a result of the groin injury that threatened to prevent his involvement in the game. But he was another who improved.
DANNY WARD
Worked the channels tirelessly and scored a deserved goal with a clever headed finish. Over to you, Kenneth Zohore. Ward has laid down a marker.
