Rugby star Rhys celebrates birth of ‘French sprog’
WALES rugby star Rhys Webb has become a dad for the third time.
Webb’s fiancée Delyth gave birth out in France on Monday night and the couple have decided to give their new addition a suitably French name as they welcomed Remi Charles into the world.
The scrum-half, who plays for Toulon following his big-money summer move, posted a picture on Instagram, saying: “Our French sprog decided to start pushing! Remi Charles Webb arrived at 10.44pm 10/09/18. Mum and baby are amazing. So proud words can’t describe I feel. Massive thanks to all the staff in the Saint Musse for your amazing support.”
Webb already has two older sons, Regan and Jesse, who have recently started school in France. He later posted a picture of the three boys together, saying: “This little brother is protected by two big brothers.”
In a recent interview with WalesOnline, Webb said: “My fiancée and my two boys have settled in really well. That helps my side of things and makes my job easier. I was pretty confident I would fit straight in. I enjoy coming to new places, I enjoy mixing with new people and making new friends. But obviously the hardest part is for the family, but they have settled in really well.”
Webb is currently having intense French lessons as he tries to immerse himself in a new way of life.
“The language was always going to be tough, coming to a foreign country,” he said. “For me, being a scrumhalf, it’s not just something you can sit back on and just go with the flow.
“You are a link between the forwards and backs.
“I know a lot of the players speak English, but it’s something I said before coming over that I wanted to do, to try and pick up the language.
“I feel that with the calls and getting the forwards running off me, I know what to say.
“I can’t say big long sentences yet in French, but I can tell the forwards where to go and what to do, so that’s the main thing.”
