How they rated

-

NEIL ETHERIDGE

Made two vital saves to ensure Cardiff’s 1-0 lead wasn’t ridiculously short-lived as Chelsea sprung a fast response. Could do little to prevent any of Hazard’s strikes. There were no penalty heroics this time.

BRUNO MANGA

Looked to get forward whenever it allowed but was primarily an out-and-out defensive block. Got himself in some great positions to deny Chelsea’s irresistible front line.

SEAN MORRISON (CAPT)

Chelsea couldn’t deal with his aerial threat for Bamba’s opener, but at the back Morrison was bombarded and coped as well as he could.

SOL BAMBA

Might have done better with his first chance but make quick amends with a brilliantly timed finish for the opener. Was a rock in his own box too, countless clearances and interceptions, but it was a silly decision to dive in and concede a needless penalty.

JOE BENNETT

Assigned the tough job of containing Chelsea’s double-pronged right wing attack of Cesar Azpilicueta and Pedro. Beaten by Hazard’s skill for the equaliser, but gave a decent enough account of himself thereafter.

JOE RALLS

Made numerous interventions while protecting the back four. But stopping Hazard and company running riot in that area of the pitch was virtually impossible. His passing and desire to come forward was commendable.
