Free digital training event helps Newport organisations get online
CHARITIES and small businesses looking to boost their digital skills are set to benefit from a free half-day masterclass on Tuesday, October 2, as part of Lloyds Banking Group’s commitment to helping businesses, organisations and individuals across Britain prosper.
The event will be hosted at Lysaght Institute between 9.30am and 1.45pm and will see experts from Lloyds Bank, Google and Reason Digital offer practical advice on how businesses and charities can build a digital marketing campaign, stay safe online and use social media more effectively to reach new audiences and generate brand awareness.
The event will be hosted by Lloyds Banking Group as part of its Helping Britain Prosper plan, which has seen the group train one in every four of its colleagues to help people and organisations use the internet to improve their digital skills and financial capability.
The group has committed to providing digital skills training, including training on internet banking, for 2.5 million individuals, SMEs and charities by 2020.
Carys Williams, Lloyds Banking Group Ambassador for Wales, said: “Our latest business digital index report showed that 43% of businesses in Wales do not have their own website and 51% do not use social media at all.
“That’s why hosting free events like this digital know how workshop in Newport is so important to make sure small businesses and charities are developing an engaging digital strategy to unlock potential benefits.
“For charities, that can include increasing the number of supporters or donors, while businesses can grow their sales and target new markets.
“We have more than 1,500 digital champions in Wales helping individuals and organisations improve their online skills, as part of our plan to help Britain prosper.”
