Saints aim to sink Lakesiders

-

THE New Saints will take on Bala Town under the floodlights at Park Hall tonight in the JD Welsh Premier League.

Reigning champions, and current league leaders, TNS have been in rampant form at home this season with 6-0 wins over Aberystwyth Town and Carmarthen Town as well as a 5-1 victory over Barry Town United.

They will be hoping that form continues but are wary of what Bala will offer, especially after they were beaten at Aberystwyth last weekend.

“We’re looking forward to it,” said TNS boss Scott Ruscoe.

“Back to home soil, or home astroturf, and it’s another Friday night game as well, which we tend to enjoy.

“We try to get a few more bums on seats because they can go and watch other teams on Saturday and it seems to work well.

“We’ve had a good positive start. The only blip is Connah’s Quay away.

“At home we always look to take care of ourselves and then make sure we can pick up enough points away from home as well. If we play like we did against Bala last season, three 3-0

victories and a 4-1 victory, then we should be confident in our ability to get three points.

“If we don’t and we turn up with the wrong attitude then anyone can beat us in this league.

“Although Bala got beat last week, they will be like a wounded animal and will want to come back and get a positive result so we don’t take anything for granted.”

Aeron Edwards is the man in form for TNS with four goals in his last two games, including a hat-trick on his last home appearance.

TNS top goal scorer Dean Ebbe is also a threat and Ruscoe believes the two of them could be key once again.

“Aeron Edwards continues to perform at the highest level for us,” Ruscoe continued.

“He gets goals, gets assists and works harder than the majority of players in our league so he’s fantastic to have around.

“Dean Ebbe is going to be a good player for us, he’s only 24. He’s scored goals already and he’s looking to add to his tally and get up there with the rest of goal scorers in the charts.”
