STORM CALLUM WEATHER ALERT
ASEVERE weather warning for rain has been upgraded as Wales prepares to be hit by the full force of Storm Callum.
An amber warning is now in place for today and tomorrow for a large part of south Wales.
Up to 160mm of rain is possible in some places.
A combination of winds up to 60mph and heavy rainfall are also set to make driving conditions hazardous across the country, including along the coast at times of high tides.
At the moment there are three separate severe weather warnings in place for Wales in relation to Storm Callum today: two yellow and one amber.
■ An amber weather warning for rain covers all of south Wales and runs from 6am today to 6pm tomorrow.
■ A yellow weather warning for rain covers all of Wales, starting at 5am and ending at 11.59pm today.
■ A yellow warning for wind covers west Wales, north-west Wales and parts of mid Wales, running from 3am to 11.59pmtoday.
Sioned Warrell, Natural Resources Wales duty tactical manager, said: “The current forecasted rain could cause flooding this week, especially in south and west Wales, and we are urging people to prepare themselves. Making sure you know what the situation is like where you live is really important.

“Our teams are doing all they can to reduce the risk for communities, but if there is flooding we want to make sure people are doing all they can to keep themselves safe.”
