Declare the vote null and void
OMG! I find myself in agreement with Gwyn Hopkins of Llangennech regarding a People’s Vote (Western Mail letters October 17).
Cameron had no “Plan B”, indeed he didn’t even have a “Plan A”!
All he had was a “Plan C” - fix the Conservative party, which has blown up in his face.
Then to call referendum on such a profound measure on a simple majority was foolish. We could, theoretically, be taken out of the EU with a single vote!
Unions must have substantial (66%?) majority to call a strike.
The fraudulent (£350m a week for the NHS) simplistic (we can just leave the next day), xenophobic (pictures if hoards of immigrants marching to our shores), corrupt (B-Leave found guilty of breaking funding laws), infiltrated by fake news, referendum should be
dismissed as null and void for all these reasons,
The dismissive “You remainers lost - get over it” attitude voiced by Douglas Davies does democracy no favours.
We are fortunate to live in a representative democracy. We vote in a government that closest represents the collective will of the country.
When that government diverges far from the evolving will of the people we vote in a different government - we cannot do that with Brexit.
Let’s get away from calling the People’s Vote a second referendum but call it a vote to ratify the vote to leave the EU based on the actual deal not competing emotional claims. Terry Green Blackwood
