Leicester confirm clash withBluebirds will go ahead
CARDIFF City’s Premier League clash with Leicester City will go ahead as scheduled this weekend.
The fixture was in serious doubt following the tragic helicopter crash that saw Leicester chairman and owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha and four others lose their lives on Saturday.
With playing staff in a state of shock following the confirmation the identities of those who perished in the crash, the game was in serious doubt following the postponement of last night’s Leicester v Southampton Carabao Cup tie.
Cardiff vowed to give their full support to the Foxes in the wake of the devastating accident, with owner Vincent Tan issuing an emotional statement in which he paid tribute to the five victims of the crash.
Now Leicester have confirmed that the match will go ahead as originally planned.
A statement read: “Leicester City’s Premier League fixture at Cardiff City this Saturday (3 November) will go ahead as scheduled, as the Club continues its tributes to its late Chairman, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha.”
It’s been reported that many Leicester players have undergone grief counselling sessions to help deal with the trauma of the horror crash.
Tributes have poured in from all sections of the football world, with Leicester’s stars among those to pay their respects to the victims of the helicopter crash on social media.
In a tribute posted on Twitter, Wales midfielder Andy King wrote: “RIP Boss. You were a great person who cared so much about our club, city and everything which came with it.”
