Pupil accosted by ‘threats’ man

-

POLICE are investigating after a 12-year-old was approached in a “threatening manner” while walking to school.

Parents of pupils at Whitchurch High School in Cardiff have been contacted to alert them to the incident, which reportedly took place before school started yesterday.

Police said they had received reports of a boy being approached at the Park Road roundabout, near the Tesco store, by a man in a car around 7.45am.

The man is described as being tall with black trainers and had a jumper over his face.

He shouted at the boy before driving off.

The head teacher, Mark Powell, has asked parents not to be alarmed.

The incident came less than 12 hours after two men were reported as acting suspiciously in nearby Manor Way.

It is not thought the incidents are related.

All local primary schools have been contacted as a result of both incidents, he said in a letter to parents emailed out at lunchtime yesterday. His message to parents reads: “If you, your son or daughter wishes to contact the school regarding this matter then please do so especially, though not exclusively, if they have any information which could help the police with ongoing inquiries.

“In the meantime, please impress upon your sons and daughters the importance of vigilance when out and about.”

South Wales Police has increased patrols in the area and CCTV is being checked.
