Let’s bring this British family home to safety

-

THE war in Yemen continues to destroy the lives of hundreds of civilians every day, while rarely being mentioned in the UK media. More than 6,600 civilians have been killed, and up to 130 children are dying daily in the world’s worst humanitarian crisis in over 50 years.

Cardiff mum Jackie Saleh tragically lost her three daughters in 1986, when they were abducted by their father and taken to Yemen. Jackie managed, with no help from the government, to find and reconnect with her daughters.

Now her youngest daughter, Safia, is trapped with her four children in Yemen, with no way to escape. The UK Government has said it goes against its current policy to evacuate Safia and her children to safety, despite them being British nationals and stuck in a war zone.

Since the war began, the price of food and basic medicine has rapidly increased and many Yemenis are starving. Jackie has been spending her own money so that Safia and her family can eat and get medicine.

The UK Government has abandoned a British family trapped in a war zone. To help bring Safia and her family back to Wales and safety, I have launched a crowdfunder campaign with Jackie to raise the £6,000 needed to bring them home.
