Les Mis show lined up for Christmas – 2019

-

ONE of the world’s most popular musicals is heading to the Wales Millennium Centre for Christmas 2019.

The new touring production of Les Misérables will take centre stage at the Cardiff venue, from November 26, 2019 until January 4, 2020.

It won’t be the first time the acclaimed show has been staged at the Donald Gordon Theatre – it toured to Cardiff in 2009 with Welshman John Owen-Jones in the leading role.

Since Cameron Mackintosh first conceived this new production of Les Misérables in 2009 to celebrate the show’s 25th anniversary it has taken the world by storm.

Originally touring the UK throughout 2009/10, and concluding with 22 performances at London’s Barbican, this version’s been embraced by modern audiences across the globe as “a Les Mis for the 21st century”.

It sparked the Oscar-winning movie version starring Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway and Eddie Redmayne.

Since opening its doors in 2004, the WMC has enjoyed major success with its Christmas productions which have included Shrek The Musical, Singin’ In The Rain, The Lion King and Miss Saigon.

The Christmas 2018 show will be the family offering Matilda, which will run from Tuesday, December 4 to Saturday, January 12.

Tickets for Les Miserables go on general sale on Monday, November 26, 2018 - exactly a year to the day it opens in Cardiff. Call the box office on 029 2063 6464 or visit www.wmc. org.uk
