Piers in Grande row over Little Mix’s nudity
PIERS Morgan has got into another spat for his controversial comments – this time with Ariana Grande and her mum.
The American singer and her mum, Joan, were angry when he criticised girl group Little Mix for posing nude for pictures promoting their latest single, Strip.
Little Mix said they were baring all in a message of body positivity to “encourage people to be who they want to be”.
But the controversial TV host claimed that the British girl band were “using sex to sell records”.
It follows his criticism of chat show host Ellen De Generes for “drooling over famous men’s bodies” on International Men’s Day.
But Ariana Grande’s mother hit back at Piers and said: “If you have nothing nice to say, don’t say it!”
Piers replied that his mother taught him to speak his mind and “never be afraid to express honestly held opinion”.
He added: “Ellen’s a hypocrite – and as for Little Mix, I’d just prefer they use their talent to sell records rather than their nudity. As your own daughter does...!”
Joan then hit back, saying: “Have her (Pier’s mother) call me... it’s not about being afraid, that’s a cop-out; and we all know in America that everyone has the right to speak their minds, but trash talk for the sake of denigrating women doing their jobs is... misogynistic and ... undignified and ignorant!”
Then Ariana got stuck in too, sticking up for Ellen and the band.
Piers snapped back: “Hi Ariana! How lovely to hear from you so soon after your mother. Of course, women can do what they like – but if they/you use nudity to sell records to impressionable young female fans, I’ll continue to call them/you out on it.”
