BLUEBIRDS boss Neil Warnock last night issued a rallying for his club’s battle to avoid the Premier League drop, insisting his players must target taking points from every team they play outside the top six.

Cardiff face another huge sixpointer this afternoon with struggling Southampton, complete with new Austrian boss Ralf Hasenhuttl.

Warnock admits his team are a long way off having the Saints’ ability levels, but must believe their fighting spirit can give them an edge as they look to climb away from the bottom three.

“Every team outside of the top six, you have to get points from them,” said Warnock.

SWANSEA City manager Graham Potter has called on his side to show their strength of character as they head to Brentford today, looking to put a run of three Championship defeats in a week behind them.

It is a new experience for many of the squad, with several playing their first full season of senior football.

But Potter has every faith in his players’ ability to get back on track – and quickly.

“We are disappointed, but you have got to be big enough as individuals and as a team to absorb that,” he said.

“That’s the most important thing to me. We can’t feel sorry for ourselves.”
