Wales in for more settled weather this week

-

AFTER days of heavy rain and high winds, it looks like Wales is set for a more settled spell of weather.

It was thought that things were going to turn a lot colder, but Channel 4 forecaster Liam Dutton says “the cold theme has been toned down”. The weather will feel chillier, but any frost is going to be more localised than widespread.

Liam adds: “Wintry showers are less likely and the mild, wet and windy weather will be back sooner.”

By Thursday there is more rain forecast and more unsettled conditions by the weekend.

There are currently no weather warnings issued for any part of the UK over the coming week.

Here is a day-by-day look at what is being forecast:

■ Today: After a bright start for many, cloud will spread eastwards through the day. Patchy rain is possible, particularly in the west, but many areas will stay dry, with light winds. Maximum temperature 11C.

■ Tomorrow: Largely dry albeit rather cloudy. There will be a moderate breeze and highs of around 11C.

■ Wednesday: Rain will spread eastwards overnight and through the day, turning lighter and patchier.

■ Thursday: Rain and stronger winds but near-normal temperatures.

■ Friday: It looks likely to be wet and possibly very windy in the north-west of the UK, and colder and drier in the far east. There could be some snow where the colder air meets the wet weather, most likely over the hills in the north, but it may fall to lower levels in places too.

■ Next weekend: The weather is likely to be changeable and often windy and cloudy, with showers or longer spells of rain at times. Any snow is most likely on high ground in the north of the UK.
