A day out at the park for singer Jess Glynne

-

ONE of the UK’s hottest pop stars, Jess Glynne, will bring her music to Singleton Park in Swansea during summer 2019.

The show on Sunday, July 28 will see Jess follow in the footsteps of Olly Murs, Noel Gallagher and Paolo Nutini, who have all played the venue, which was the stage for Swansea’s Biggest Weekend earlier this year.

The news comes just weeks after it was announced that she will support the Spice Girls during their 2019 comeback tour, which opens at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.

The singer has experienced something of a stellar career thus far. I Cry When I Laugh is one of the defining British pop records of its era, holding its place in the charts for 138 weeks and counting.

It debuted at number one, spawning 12 million worldwide singles sales, 39 weeks in the UK top 10, 2.5 billion Spotify streams, a sold-out UK arena tour, and Brit, MTV EMA, Ivor Novello, Mobo, Q and Glamour award nominations.

Since then, she has released her chart-topping second studio album Always In Between, which went straight into the number one spot.

Her run of hit singles continued with I’ll Be There, a seventh top spot that secured her the record for most number one singles by a British female solo artist, then All I Am and Thursday.

This will be her second major show in south-west Wales in three years. In 2017 she performed to thousands of fans at Llanelli’s Parc y Scarlets.

The show is being promoted by Orchard Live (formerly Orchard Entertainment), whose director Pablo Janczur said: “Jess is one of the biggest and hottest names in music and has got rave reviews for her current arena shows. We have loved coming to party in Singleton Park in the past and only want to bring the best names to the venue; this year will be no different.”

Tickets for the show go on sale from 10am, Friday, December 14 via Ticketmaster and Gigantic.
