Rodon response praised

-

SWANSEA City defender Joe Rodon has been praised for his restrained response after being on the receiving end of an apparent stamp during the game against Brentford at the weekend.

In the 29th minute of the match at Griffin Park and with Swansea leading 3-0, Rodon was bundled to the floor by Bees forward Neal Maupay.

Footage then shows the French striker appear to stamp on the young centre-back with both feet.

To his credit, Rodon got up and walked away from the incident, nursing a sore midriff, but his team-mates, including skipper Leroy Fer and centre-back partner Mike van der Hoorn, were keen to let referee Andy Woolmer know their feelings.

The official did not produce a card for the Brentford man, much to the surprise of Swans TV pundit Wyndham Evans.

Evans branded it a “full-out stamp” on first viewing, adding it was “a yellow card at least”.

Rodon was praised for his reserved reaction by Swansea fans, who were left bemused by the lack of action from the officials, including the assistant referee, who was just yards away from the incident.

Rodon put in another commanding performance at the heart of Swansea’s defence as Graham Potter’s men got back to winning ways following three defeats on the spin.

■ Swansea City are set to revive their interest in former Arsenal midfielder Glen Kamara, according to reports in Scotland.

The Liberty Stadium outfit were linked with the Dundee star all summer and appeared to be favourites to sign the Finland international.

A move failed to materialise, with the Celtic and Rangers target remaining with Dundee.

He has made 14 appearances for the Dark Blues this season, and according to local publication the Evening Telegraph, Swansea are back in the hunt for him.

The 23-year-old is out of contract in the summer and is therefore able to sign a pre-contract with other sides next month.
