Missing Libby suspect faces other charges
AMAN arrested in connection with the disappearance of university student Libby Squire has been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged with unrelated offences.
Pawel Relowicz, of Raglan Street, Hull, appeared at Hull Magistrates’ Court accused of voyeurism, outraging public decency and burglary.
He was arrested on suspicion of abduction on Wednesday night in connection with Miss Squire’s disappearance.
Yesterday, Relowicz appeared in the dock at the magistrates’ court charged with masturbating in public, watching another person “doing a private act” for his own sexual gratification, and stealing sex toys, knickers, condoms, photographs and computer equipment from people’s homes. He pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Miss Squire, 21, was reported missing on February 1 and an intensive search has been conducted by police since that time.
Speaking through a Polish interpreter, Relowicz, 24, confirmed his name, address, date of birth and not guilty pleas to the five charges.
Bill Waddington, representing Relowicz, said he would not be making a bail application for his client.
District Judge Fred Rutherford told the defendant: “You have entered your not guilty pleas before this court. The matters are too serious for this court and will be sent to Crown Court. You are remanded in custody to Hull Crown Court.”
He told Relowicz he would appear at the Crown Court on March 11.
Detective Superintendent Matt Hutchinson said in a statement: “We are continuing to investigate the disappearance of Libby Squire and a 24-year-old man remains under investigation.”
