Fighting over last IS Syria foothold

FIGHTING is under way between US-backed Syrian forces and the Islamic State group around the extremists’ last foothold in eastern Syria.

The Syrian Democratic Forces launched a final push to clear IS from the village of Baghouz and nearby areas under the cover of air strikes by the US-backed coalition.
