Money would be better in our pockets

-

THE proposed HS2 train out of London to Birmingham is now estimated to cost £53bn.

Political gossip is now in the air that the project may be axed.

Does this bother the average British person from Land’s End to the outer Scottish Islands?

Well, if you do a simple aritmetic sum and divide £53bn by the current UK population of 67 million, you get the answer of £836 per head for every person in the UK, from a Cornish resident to a Shetland Islander, and from a newborn baby to a pensioner.

HS2 would mean nothing to me, and neither to most people in the UK, but £836 in my pocket and likewise £836 in the pockets of every one in my family would mean a lot.

I do know that my village bus service was recently pruned back, much to public annoyances here.

I do know commuters want reliable bus and train transport.

I do know that most people in the UK feel similarly and could not give a hoot about HS2.

Think about how it would affect you and your family and then tell your MP.
