on the left, and the Macedonian’s curling cross was headed home by Harrison.

Leeds almost made it 3-0 six minutes before the break as Hernandez chipped into the box towards Bamford but the striker’s glancing header went straight at Mulder.

The Swans made a positive start to the second half and were the width of Kiko Casilla’s post away from pulling a goal back in the 47th minute.

Daniel James, the man who came so close to sealing a move to Elland Road on transfer deadline day, won the visitors a free-kick on the edge of the penalty area after being tripped by Alioski and Matt Grimes’s curling strike was deflected on to the outside of Casilla’s left post.

But Leeds swiftly upped the ante again, and Swansea had Cameron Carter-Vickers to thank for clearing a dangerous cross from Harrison in the 53rd minute.

Roofe then blazed well over from distance as Leeds looked to settle proceedings.

Potter made two changes in quick succession, with Joel Asoro and former Leeds youth player McBurnie replacing Jay Fulton and McKay respectively.

But it was Leeds that continued to carry a greater threat, with Bamford firing a low shot at goal midway through the second half.

Roofe was then denied by Mulder from the edge of the area as Potter sent on Luciano Narsingh for James, the Dutchman making his first competitive appearance of the season.

The three Swansea substitutes all had decent bursts at goal, although there was no end product to their runs.

And Roofe almost got himself on the scoresheet in the 78th minute but the 26-year-old flashed his shot wide of Mulder’s goal.

Connor Roberts saw a driven shot saved by Kiko Casilla moments later, while Grimes had a free-kick saved by the Spanish goalkeeper.

Swansea did manage to set up a grandstand finish as Asoro was tripped by Ayling in the box and McBurnie converted from the penalty spot to reduce the deficit.

But Leeds held on for a deserved victory to move back to the summit of the Championship table.

The Swans will now switch their focus back to the FA Cup, with Brentford visiting the Liberty Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
