NESTLED in 11 acres of magnificent grounds, and tucked away from the hustle and bustle of city life is St Clare’s, a unique non-selective, independent school which welcomes boys and girls from three to 18 years old. St Clare’s nurtures happy, confident and inquisitive children.

St Clare’s is situated in the historic village of Newton, on the outskirts of Porthcawl, close to the nearby towns of Neath, Bridgend and Cowbridge, ideally situated between Cardiff and Swansea with easy access to the M4 and A48.

St Clare’s provides a return to traditional old-fashioned values and standards in a modern setting with a strong sense of community.

Small class sizes ensure that each child’s individual talents and strengths are nurtured by the dedicated staff.

The strong family ethos of the school is evidenced by the number of siblings, children and even grandchildren who attend.

St Clare’s follows the English curriculum for GCSE examinations. Whatever subjects pupils choose, St Clare’s goes above and beyond to help them succeed.

St Clare’s grades speak volumes, with a 100% pass rate at A-level for five consecutive years and 78.4% A* to B grades achieved.

The sixth form is a centre of academic excellence with a new state-of-the-art sixth-form centre now the heart of sixth-form life, offering an outstanding school-based, post-16 education to students.

However, it’s not just about academic success at St Clare’s. The school focuses on educating the whole child, with the aim of sending young people out into the world as responsible, balanced young citizens.

Developing life-skills and character education has always been at the forefont of the day-to-day pastoral care but last year, headteacher Helen Hier introduced a new enrichment programme to explicitly address pupils development.

The activities form part of promoting employability and enhancing academic attainment, while teaching pupils essential life-skills that have benefits well beyond the classroom.

While retaining its ethos and character, St Clare’s is proud to be part of Cognita, an extraordinary family of diverse yet connected schools, spanning eight different countries and 70 plus schools all sharing one common purpose – to create an inspiring world of education that builds self-belief and empowers individuals to succeed.

100% A-level success rate

That’s not a brag, it’s a fact. St Clare’s goes above and beyond to secure academic success.
