House searched in murder probe

AHOUSE in Wales has been searched as part of an investigat­ion into the death of a man whose body was found with gunshot wounds in a parked car in England.

Gwent Police assisted Hampshire Constabula­ry with a search at a house in Nantyglo, Blaenau Gwent, on Monday, July 29.

A spokesman for Hampshire Constabula­ry confirmed the search was in connection with the death of Gurinderji­t Rai, 41, whose body was

found in a parked car in a lane in Corhampton, Southampto­n, on Saturday, July 13.

A post-mortem examinatio­n confirmed the father-of-two, from Eastleigh, died as a result of gunshot wounds.

The family of Mr Rai, who was also known as G, said he was a devoted father and loving fiance to his partner.

“He had an infectious sense of humour and would always find the best of any situation. He was a principled man and would always be the first to offer help to those that needed it. He will be missed dearly by all his family and friends.”

No arrests were made as a result of the search and detectives are continuing to investigat­e the circumstan­ces around Mr Rai’s death.

So far seven men have been arrested in connection with the death and all have been released on police bail.

A spokesman from Gwent Police said: “Gwent Police assisted Hampshire Police to execute a warrant on Monday morning. This relates to an ongoing criminal investigat­ion from the Hampshire area.”
