New head of sales at IoT firm Vortex
ASWANSEA-BASED Internet of Things (IoT) company has appointed a new head of sales.
Vortex IOT has appointed Steve Jones to its team in Swansea Bay. Mr Jones, who specialises in software solutions (SaaS / PaaS) and customer premises equipment (CPE), brings more than 16 years’ experience of international business development to Vortex.
Vortex IOT, alongside its south Wales headquarters, recently opened a satellite office in Singapore in a bid to expand its reach into the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN).
Founded by CEO Adrian Sutton, CTO Behzad Heravi and finance and COO Nick Beckett, Vortex IoT is made up of a team of engineers with expertise in emerging technologies, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning.
Vortex’s IoT-based solutions to date include a secure, self-healing mesh network, an Air Quality Measurement (AQM) platform, an AI rail safety device and integrated smart parking optimization. Its developments often provide a solution for harsh environments where conditions are hostile, power supply is limited, AI is needed, or data security is critical.
Existing customers and partners include Tata Steel, Network Rail, and the Qatar foundation (2022 World Cup).
Mr Jones is tasked with driving additional revenues from new business development, existing accounts, plus growth of Vortex’s channel partner network.
The Abergavenny resident said of his appointment: “I am extremely excited about joining such an innovative, Welsh, IOT technology company and look forward to contributing to Vortex’s rapid growth.”
Adrian Sutton said: “We’re thrilled that Steve has joined our thriving team and look forward to him doing what he’s best at.
“We are committed to building on our national and international growth, and know that Steve will help us in raising awareness of our business and our unique, innovative IoT solutions.
“We have exciting plans for the coming months and 2020 and know that Steve will play a big part in ensuring we fulfil these objectives.”
Vortex IoT recently secured an investment by the Development Bank of Wales which will allow them to pursue ambitious growth plans, which include growing its current workforce from 15 to 30 by the end of this year.
