Three arrested after man seriously assaulted

THREE men have been arrested after a man was seriously assaulted during an incident at busy traffic lights in Carmarthen­shire last night.

Dyfed-Powys Police has launched an appeal for witnesses after the incident at Pemberton in Llanelli at around 8pm on Saturday.

A 53-year-old man has been left in a serious condition following the assault and is currently receiving treatment at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.

Three men were arrested yesterday on suspicion of assault, which is believed to have involved a number of people and brought traffic to a standstill.

The road where the incident happened is not far from the Tesco and Morrisons supermarke­ts – and detectives believe a number of cars may have passed around that time.

A spokeswoma­n for the force said: “We’re looking for witnesses to an incident right at the very busy traffic lights at Pemberton, Llanelli, around 8pm last night.

“A 53-year-old man is in a serious condition, at University of Wales Hospital, Cardiff .

“Three men have been arrested this morning on suspicion of Section 18 assault, following the incident which believe involved a number of people and brought traffic to a standstill.

“If you were in the area and have dash-cam footage, please can you review it – If you have something we should look at, please make it available to the investigat­ion team.”

Details of the assault have yet to emerge, although it is not believed any weapons were involved.
