Let’s repay fans with a win, says Lloyd

- Glamorgan yesterday won the 2nd XI T20 title with a one-run win over Hampshire in the final.

GLAMORGAN have kept the same squad chosen for the rained-off clash with Kent for tonight’s Vitality Blast T20 trip to play Essex in Chelmsford (7pm).

Batsman Kiran Carlson should be available for selection after he travelled with the squad to continue his rehab from the side strain he picked up against the Sussex Sharks earlier in the competition.

The match will also be Fakhar Zaman’s final appearance for the club in this year’s Vitality Blast, as travels back to Pakistan after the match.

All-rounder David Lloyd said: “It would be nice to finish this block with a win.

“It’s been a real disappointing campaign from us, for some reason it just hasn’t worked for us. We owe a lot to supporters with our performances not being good enough and we would like to repay them with a win on Friday and also doing well in the four-day stuff and getting that promotion.”

Chelmsford is known for its raucous crowds and intimidating atmosphere, however it is not something which will affect the team, according to Lloyd.

“It’s always a nice welcome from their fans, getting called all sorts of names,” said Lloyd.

“It would nice to get a win to silence the crowd. Getting a win on Friday would give us a lot of confidence going into Sunday. Winning games is good for anyone mentally and for the boys it would be great.

“It would be nice to give the fans something to cheer about really. There are a strong side and are also doing well in the four-day stuff, so it’ll be a tough game.

“But there is nothing for us to lose now, so let’s go out there and try to whack 220 and bowl them out.”
